The scene shows an Italian coastal landscape with classical ruins, distant water views and figures resting beneath two dramatic trees. This is a decorative antique reproduction print rather than an original Turner painting, confirmed by the original gallery label verso reading: “Mezzotint Engraving by Will Henderson – Bay of Baiae – after the original by J.M.W. Turner, R.A.” The print also retains Henderson’s pencil signature to the lower margin together with a blind stamp to the mount.
